The most important fact to keep in mind when developing a baccarat strategy is that baccarat is, basically, a game of chance. Books, websites, and pamphlets claiming otherwise are cheating you of your money and, unlike the casino, you have no hope of getting it back.
But don't be discouraged! There are a few basic strategy tips that will help you improve your game and up your chances of winning. But, like all casino games, it is important to have a solid understanding of the game rules before attempting to create a baccarat strategy for yourself.
There are three bets to choose from in the game of baccarat. Players may wager on the bank, on the player or on a tie. The dealer will place two cards for the player and two cards for the bank. Depending on the rules of the casino, someone - a player or the dealer - will turn the cards over and see the values. If either hand has an 8 or 9, no further cards are drawn. Player and bank bets pay even money, 1:1. A 5 percent commission will be charged for players that bet on the bank. This commission is to increase the house odds since, statistically, the bank will win approximately 3 hands more than the player on the normal 8 deck cards used in baccarat.
Baccarat strategy tips
A good rule of thumb, when developing a baccarat strategy, is to know the odds of the game. Unlike blackjack, the amount of decks used in the shoe does not significantly affect the outcome of the game. Most casinos will use a 6-deck or 8-deck shoe, though. Each casino has different rules for drawing a third card for the player and dealer. A player does not need to know this since it is done automatically by the dealer.
