Pai Gow Rules

The basic objective of Pai Gow poker is simple. Learning the Pai Gow Poker rules is a little more complicated. Each player is only playing against the dealer, even though a Pai Gow poker table can seat up to seven players. One standard 52 card deck and a joker comprise the playing cards in a game of Pai Gow.

The players and dealer are dealt seven cards each after the players place their bets. The object of the game is to separate these seven cards into one five-card hand and one two-card hand. The two card hand can, clearly, only be made up of a pair or two high cards. The five-card hand, except for a few differences, follows the basic rules of a five card stud poker hand.

The five card hand must be a higher hand value than the two card, though. The biggest difficulty in Pai Gow is trying to learn how to separate the hands into the optimum values. The joker card can be used as an ace or to complete a flush.

The game of Pai Gow is relatively slow compared to other casino games. If you're looking for a fast-action poker game, Pai Gow is not for you.

House way will show a player the best two hands for the cards they have received.
