Bust -
When a player 'hits' on a hand in blackjack and the resulting card value is higher than 21, which is an automatic loss.
Cut Card -
A colored plastic card used to cut the card after a dealer has shuffled them.
Double Down -
When a player chooses to double his/her bet and receive one more card only.
Hard Hand -
A hand where an ace can only be a 1 and not an 11.
Hit -
Adding another card to your hand.
Hole Card -
The dealer's card which is placed face down on the table.
Natural -
A hand that equals 21 from the first two cards dealt.
Push -
A tie. With a push, a player receives the original bet back.
Shoe -
A box that helps hold the cards, normally used in games with multiple decks.
Stand -
When a player decides to stop drawing cards and remain with the current hand.
Surrender -
In certain casinos, players are given the choice to surrender, give back, their first two cards and receive half of their original bet back.
Upcard -
The dealer's card that is placed face down.
